A GAY NEST
Birds are said to make their nests of the same material generation after generation, but sometimes a bird is original in its building operations. The vicar of a country church near Stafford, England, once saw in the churchyard a nest, gay as a harlequinade, bright as a '•’- ’d’s ball. He found it was covered in confetti, each bit of coloured paper being threaded on a hair! He found it in May, and there had been a wedding in April. After the young birds had flown the vicar removed the rainbow nest and gave it to the bride’s parents as a memento.
