i FAT PRICES UNCHANGED ONLY MEDIUM INQUIRY j Only medium inquiry was met for i'atj j sheep at the weekly Blenheim stock ; sale, and although the previous week’s j prices were maintained, the market was! generally dull, with butchers showing • ■lily mediocre interest for most of the, lines offered (states the "Express"). The' ! general quality of the fat yarding was j up to last week's entry, ana, in ad- j c’lt cn there were several pens of top 1 quality sorts which attracted the at :n-j j lion of butchers. There was only a! fa"* attendance of buyers among whom 1 was one from Nelson, and ail appeared .to be working on very reset >cd limits. ed and a number of pens were passed j in at auction. The fat entry totalled 580. of which I 435 were ewes. For these there ap-: pea! ed to be a limited demand, although they fared much better than 1 weUiers which, with the exception of several of the top lots, failed to attract much attention from buyers, i Seven heavyweights offered on account of Mr F. W. Smith realised 17s 7d. and four attractive sheep offered by another vendor made 19s 7d. A pen of 13 well-finished sheep owned by Mr C. D. Cunningham fetched 16s lOd. and an- : ether lot offered on account of the same 1 vendor realised 16s 7d. A number of i. sales were made at from 16s 4d down j | to 14s 4d. I Only 136 wethers came forward, and j J only the top quality sorts attracted the j j attention of butchers. Nine heavy- j j weights were keenly bid for by several ‘ ! buyers before being knocked down at! 31s lOd. Two good pens offered on I account of Mr W. Payne each made 24s 1 lOd. and a pair of attractive sorts own;ed by Mr L. M. Jellyman made 25s 4d. A number of offerings were passed I in at round about 21s 3d up to 235. i THE STORE SECTION The store section was made up of j 385 sheep, of which 267 were ewes, all, ! being in lamb. A station line of halfj breds comprising two-tooths up to j aged sheep attracted a good deal of at- j ; tention from farmers. A pen of 71 j two-tooths. in lamb to a Southdown j ram, made 14s 7d, and 75 mostly sound- j mouth sheep, in lamb to the same ; ram, fetched 7s. Full and failing mouth 1 sheep from the same station changed ; hands at 4s 6d to 3s Id. Two pens j of Romneys, offered on account of Mr j T. Daken, also attracted attention. A j pen of 2. 4 and 6-tooths, in lamb to a Romney ram made 5s 6d. and 23 largej framed sound-mouth Romneys in j | lamb to a Romney ram made 5s 6d. andj | 23 large-framed sound-mouth Romneys j in lamb to .the same ram.‘changed hands j | at 12s.
