STATEMENT BY UNITED OPPOSITION REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT FAVOURED [U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph-Copyright | (Received 29th January, 2 p.m.) CAPETOWN, 28th January. General Hertzog and Dr Malan in a statement on behalf of the United Opposition, known as the Reunited Nationalist or People's Party, said members were convinced that a Republican Government separated from Britain was the most suitable lor the traditions and aspirations of South Africa and the only effective guarantee that the country would not again be drawn into wars with Britain.
