BADGE FOR AIR-GUNNERS
OFFICIAL APPROVAL (Received ll.h January, noon) RUGBY, 10th January. As recognition of the importance of the air-gunners’ part in aerial warfare a new badge has been approved for wear by officers and men qualified as air-gunners. The badge, which is reminiscent of the observers’ “wings” consists of the letters A. G. within a laurel wreath with a single outspread wing.
WEST OF VOSGES (Received llth January. 10.10 a.m.) PARIS, 10th January. A war communique states that there has been local activity of contact elements in the region west of Vosges. MINISTRY OF ARMED FORCES SUGGESTED APPOINTMENT FOR MR CHURCHILL [U.P.A.— By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) PARIS, 9th January. The Press suggests that the First Loi-d of the Admiralty, Mr Winston Churchill, might be appointed to a new Ministry co-ordinating the British Navy, Army and Air Force. Mr Churchill’s presence at the investiture in France of Lord Gort and Sir Edmund Ironside with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour is considered to be worth noting.
