TO-NIGHT’S SWIMMING CARNIVAL

HIGH PERFORMANCES EXPECTED COMPETITORS FOR NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The swimming carnival to be held at the Municipal Baths to-night at 7.45 p.m. should be of a very high standard as the entries are excellent in all swimming events, and some very close racing should result. The diving is definitely up to New Zealand standard and is alone worth the price of admisison. The team of swimmers selected to represent Nelson at Dunedin will be competing, and will also give an exhibition. The House relay event has drawn quite a good field and Kirkpatricks, the champion house team of last season will have to be at the top of their form to stave off the challenge of Cock and Co., Cawthron Institute, P. and T. Department, Central Motors, J. Baird’s, Montgomery’s Garage and several other teams of a very high standard. Water polo will also be played when the Reds will be out to avenge their defeat of a fortnight ago. The public should vote this carnival one of the best ever seen in Nelson and as the proceeds go towards sending the team to Dunedin, it is worthly of the support of the public
