R.A.F. UNITS IN FRANCE
HIGH COMMAND WINS LONG STRUGGLE AGAINST AIR MINISTRY OPPOSITION [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] (Received 10th January, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, 9th January. “The “Daily Mail’s” diplomatic correspondent says that the Army High Command has won a long struggle against powerful opposition from the Air Ministry for tactical control of all Royal Air Force units in France. An air officer Commander-in-Chief will shortly be appointed, and he will work under the direction of the Com-mander-in-Chief of the British Field Forces, Lord Gort. The Army has long argued that a single control would result in closer co-operation and greater striking pow_ ev than the dual control that has hitherto been practised.
