BRITISH TANKER SUNK

BY MINE IN NORTH SEA TWENTY OF CREW MISSING (Received 10th January, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, 9th January. The tanker British Liberty has been sunk, believed as the result of a mine, in the North Sea. Twenty of the crew including the captain are missing. It is believed that they died while attempting to salvage the ship. DUTCH CARGO BOAT SUNK (Received 10th January, 10.25 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, 9th January. The Dutch cargo boat Truida was sunk by a mine in the North Sea. The crew of four were picked up.
