CENTENNIAL CHAMBERS OPENED

A WESTLAND FUNCTION [United Press Association] HOKITIKA. This Day. The first public ceremony in connection with the Centennial celebrations took place yesterday afternoon when the Westland County Council Centennial Chambers, a fine large structure erected at a cost of £2OOO was officially opened by Mr James O’Brien member for Westland. The building is eminently suitable for the purpose and is erected in the centre of the town. There was a large attendance present and many complimentary references were made. The speakers all agreed that the further progress of South Westland was greatly assisted by the extension of the railway from Ross to Wataroa.
