FAST RECRUITING
CENTRAL DISTRICT MEN COMING FORWARD TOTAL TO DATE 7114 WELLINGTON, This Day. Beginning with the stimulus of the public parade of the men of the first echelon from the Central District camp at Trentham a week ago, there has been a great recruiting response and the daily siene at the area headquarters at Buckle street resembles that of the first few days, when the initial appeal was launched. Since 3rd January, the daily recruiting at Wellington has been 144. 137, 161, 133, 114, and 60 respectively up to last night. At present the balance available in the Wel-lington-Hutt area for posting to camp is 443, but there are still several hundred men to be medically examined. The quota is 839. The Hawkes Bay-Gisborne-Waira-rapa area (No. 7) has already more than 50 men above its second echelon quota. Since the start of recruiting on 12th September, there have been 7114 enlistments in the Central Military Distiict, of whom 3957 have been classed fit and 2437 sent to camp.
