FRUIT SUPPLIES
SHORTAGE ON DUNEDIN MARKET [United Press Association] DUNEDIN, 9th January. For some weeks now the supply of fruit to the Dunedin market has been scanty, the reign of the strawberry and cherry being comparatively short. There is promise, however, of a good crop of apricots, peaches and plums in Central Otago, and it should not be many days before these satisfying fruits are being enjoyed to the full. Rasp, berries are in full swing, but, as crops have been affected in their setting by high winds, it is probable that the season with them will also be short. As for apples, the distribution of this favourite fruit is, of course, under Government control, but fairly heavy crops are predicted throughout the Dominion. They should be coming on to the local market from Central Otago within the next fortnight.
