IN GISBORNE DISTRICT

DAIRY PRODUCTION HOLDS WELL [United Press Association] GISBORNE, Bth January. Dairy production in the Gisborne district is holding up particularly well, and the seasonal decline, which usually commences before Christmas, is hardly perceptible yet over the whole district. On some farms the reduction in, cream supplies from the flush period | is noticeable, but in other places, i particularly those in the back! , country, there is little difference be- j tween the December outputs and' those at present. One farmer on the flats stated that at the end of December his butterfat production was slightly ahead of that at the beginning of the month, but though most places are experiencing a slight falling off now, the downward trend was expected to be much more gradual than at this time last year, when conditions were dry and the herds in comparatively low condition.
