LEVEL CROSSING SMASH

MAN KILLED, WOMAN INJURED ACCIDENT THIS MORNING [United Press Association] AUCKLAND, This Day. man was killed and a woman seriously injured when a small motor car was struck by a local train on a level crossing on the Pukekohe —Paerata road at 10.20 o’clock this morning. The man was John Boyd Marshall, of Graham’s Beach, Waiuku, aged about 60 years. The identity of the woman is not yet known. It is stated that neither the train nor the car was travelling at a fast pace. The smaller vehicle was c rried a distance of 100 yards and reduced to a twisted mass rf wreckage. The woman was thrown some distance from the point of impact, while Marshall, who was driving, was taken from the wreckage of the car ten minutes later. The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Auckland Hospital.
