HOLIDAY RACING CARNIVAL CONCLUDES

BEAU VITE BEATS BEAULIVRE AGAIN GLADYNEV AND LOU ROSA ALSO WIN TE HAI RACES WELL AT STRATFORD

The New Year racing carnival concluded yesterday when the fihal day of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting was held and the Stratford, Greymouth and Marton fixtures also concluded. A one-day fixture was held at Oamaru and the Southland Racing Club’s meeting opened at Invercargill. The second day of the Canterbury Park trots was held at Addington. Beau Vite’s meeting with Beaulivre at Ellerslie in the Clifford Stakes attracted the greatest attention and although the public still favoured his chances Beaulivre again had to be content with a second to his fast_finishing rival. The Nathan Memorial Handicap was won by Gladynev and in the Royal Stakes Lou Rosa won well, beating a strong field. The success of Mr T. A. Duncan’s horses, Laughing Lass, Ecstatic, Royal Sign, and Wings of Song, was a feature of the Marton meeting, where their successes yesterday brought their total to seven for the meeting. Te Hai raced consistently at Stratford yesterday for a win and dead-heat, Night Dress won at Oamaru, Flame Queen at Greymouth, and Passaform took the Invercargill Cup.
