OBITUARY
MR P. G. LE GROVE Mr Percy George Le Grove, formerly a well-known business man of Wellington, recently passed away in Nelson Hospital. Born in Christchurch in 1883, he was the youngest son of the late Mr Edwin James Le Grove, of Wellington, who was a pioneer of the typewriter business, being the first to import typewriters to this country. At an early age Mr Percy Le Grove entered his father’s business and as traveller for the firm, soon became well known throughout New Zealand. In 1917 while in Nelson, he was involved in an accident at Stoke in which he lost his right leg. He was thus compelled to take a less active part in the business but, showing a keen interest in the repairing and rebuilding of typewriters he soon became an expert mechanic, and in later years started businesses of his own in Napier and New Plymouth. In 1926, owing to failing health, he was forced to withdraw from business and lead a life of retirement. Up to the time of his death he was living with his son at Maggie Creek. He was married to the late Miss Alice McGonagle, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Denis McGonagle, of Northland, Wellington, and is survived by one daughter (Muriel) and two sons, Edwin and Richard.
