Signor Gayda. official Italian spokesman, states that Italy has not exhausted her diplomatic moves to avert war. “Italy will continue to operate to the last useful hour for the return to reason and justice." All Italian line ships are remaining in their ports. Banks have banned the cashing of sterling cheques fearing that British banks would not honour them in the event of war.
