ALARM CAUSED BY RUMOURS
STATEMENT BY ACTING-PRIME MINISTER PUBLIC WILL BE FULLY SUPPLIED WITH INFORMATION l United Press Assocjatmnl WELLINGTON, 25th August. Intimation was given in the House >' Representatives this afternoon by the * Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon P. Fraser) that any information the Government received and which the public .•hould know will be broadcast immediately from ail national stations, and representatives of the Press would be kept fully supplied with information. Mr Fraser said the public should not allow themselves to be alarmed by baseless rumours that spread in times i like this, but should obtain confirmation of them from some authoritative “The public may rely on the fact that the Government is fully seized of its responsibilities,” said Mr Fraser. “All necessary steps have been taken, including the clocking of the Achilles and the LCander. Any further measures the situation may require will be ■aken at the appropriate time.” Mr Fraser added that everything necessary had been done, no necessary precaution would be neglected, and no steps left untaken.
