FARMERS’ UNION OPENING OF NEW BRIDGE AT ROSEDALE I With the object of creating additional j interest in the activities of the organis- | ation, and to commemorate the open - | ing of the new bridge at Rosedale. after j representations had extended over a period of 10 years, a largely-attended j social and dance, at which Dovedale ■ residents were strongly represented, was held in the Ngatimoti Hall on Fri- j day evening under the auspices of the Ngatimoti branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. The president (Mr F. Wells) extended a general welcome to the visitors ; I and, on behalf of the branch, expressed I pleasure at seeing so many present. ; | Councillor J. F. Murcott (Riding j member) and Mr Fred Teece (president ! of the Motueka A. and P. Association), ! who were welcomed by Messrs L. P. 1 Haycock and L. Canton respectively, thanked the Union for its invitation j to be present that evening and the J speakers for their kindly remarks. Councillor Murcott also took the op- i portunity of complimenting the contractor of the Rosedale bridge (Mr E. i D. Wilson ) on his expert workmanship. Mr Harold Williams provided the i music for the dance, the duties of M.C. j being carried out by Mr Ted Canton, j Supper arrangements were in the i hands of Mrs F. Wells, Mrs H. Canton | and Mrs L. P. Haycock. STOCK DEMONSTRATION In the afternoon, on Mr F. Wells’ i property, the Stock Inspector (Mr G. Blair) gave a most interesting demon, stration and informative discourse on stock troubles encountered during this period of the year, and was thanked by Mr Wells for his instructive talk. Later, Mr Merry, of the Fields Division, Department of Agriculture, will give a lecture to members of the branch on matters that come within the purview of his Department, when it is hoped there will be another large attendance.
