POPE’S APPEAL FOR PEACE
ADVICE TO STATESMEN PRUDENCE AND RESERVE URGED VATICAN CITY, 19th August. The Pope, addressing Italian pilgrims, urged them not to abandon hope that the rulers were conscious of their responsibility and wanted to spare the peoples from disaster. He besought the statesmen throughout the world to settle the differences peacefully and advised prudence and reserve while awaiting developments.
