NELSON FEDERATION 1 EXECUTIVE MEETING An executive meeting of Nelson Federation of Women’s Institutes was held on 18th August, at Burrough House, the following members being present; Mrs Tweedie (president), Mrs Chaytor (Wakefield), Mrs Stallard (Collingwood), Mrs Wilkes (Richmond), Mrs Burrell (Ngatimoti), Mrs Stobie (Takaka), Mrs Newman (Stoke-Wakatu), Mrs Smith (Hope-Ranzau). secretary. After repeating the Creed, the president extended a welcome to the new members on the executive committee.

The new Women’s Institute Cookery Books are now on hand and can be procured from the Federation secretary, Mrs Smith.

Reports indicated that the sales of Home and Country” had increased rapidly and it is now a very interesting woman’s magazine.

A letter was received from the Refugees’ Emergency Committee and waa referred to the Dominion Federation to deal with.

Mrs Tweedie, Federation president, was recommended to headquarters as a voluntary organiser.

It was decided to assist financially to send Mrs Kelso as delegate to the I,’anAmencan Congress to be held in Havana, Cuba, in October. This is a great honour tor Mrs Kelso as only two women are attending this congress from the Dominion. I he Drama Festival will be held on 28th September at Motueka and entries closa oa Bth September.
