Colonel Edgar Gorrell, president of the American Air Transport Association, who was a passenger by the Yankee Clipper, said in an interview that he expected to see high-flying aircraft flying regularly between America and Australia via the South Pole within ten years. He thought that a North Polar route would also be regularly used for commercial flying. He added that aircraft with six engines were already being built in the United States.
