ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE
APPEAL FOR MEMBERS THE NEED OF FIRST AID KNOWLEDGE The St. John Ambulance Association puts within the reach of all sufficient knowledge of the principle of "First Aid to the Injured” to enable them to be of real service to those suffering, states a special appeal issued by the association. The Association seeks to have some person whom they have taught ready on hand to be found at the side of every unexpected sufferer—to do what occasion demands till qualified medical assistance can be brought to bear upon the case. And in connection with this it must be clearly understood that the object of the Association is not to rival but to aid the medical man and tl.j instruction given at the classes has been defined with the view of qualifying pupils to adopt such measures as may be advantageous pending the doctor’s arrival. In the home, i.i the field, in the factory. a cut is a common occurrence, it may be even severe enough to produce death by bleeding Knowledge of just where to apply pressure to stop that bleeding is surely knowledge worth knowing.
Next Monday, 3rd July, a new ambulance class open to all men over the age of 18 years will be commenced at the Association rooms. Wakatu Lane, and any enquiries are invited by the secretary, Major F. W. Huggins, Trafalgar street.
