QtEEN CARNIVAL At a meeting of representatives of local clubs and societies held in Mapuai it was decided to conduct a Queen Carnival. An outline of the procedure to be followed was given by Mr Clark and the meeting agreed to divide into three groups, these being the School Commute. which adopted blue as its distinguishing colour with Pamela McKee as their Princess; the Bowling arm Croquet Clubs, which adopted green a> their colour with Rena Evans as then Princess: and the Women’s Institute and the local branch of the Plunket Society, which adopted pink as their colour with Barbara Archer as their Princess It was decided to commence operations immediately, the first voting to be made on 3rd July, and each week thereafter until the ICth August, when the crowning ceremony would take place. The governing executive appointed was Mrs Ross, Mr Stuchbery and Mr Higgs, with Mr Clark as organiser. Votes would be one penny each. Each group is lo be responsible for organising its own functions and musl meet any obligations incurred therein. The object of the Carnival is to raise funds to assist in the maintenance of the various bodies, beautifying of the school grounds and care .and upkeep of the lawns of the Bowling Club and Croquet Club. Funds to assist the Plunket Society and Women’s Institute in their work are a necessity and it was the unanimous opinion of thosp present that any assistance in the foregoing objects would meet with the full , approval and support of \t.e public and ; all concerned. Persons with who rnto get in touch in connection with various activities were appointed as follows; The School Committee. Mr Stuchbery: the Bowling hnd Croquet Club. Mrs Wakefield;' and the Institute and Pluhket Sotietv Mrs Ross.
