THETIS DISASTER
TRIBUNAL OF INQUIRY ESTABLISHED DELAY IN SALVAGING I British Official Wireleaal RUGBY, 12th June. Salvage operations on the submarine Thetis will recommence as soon as possible, thiugh it may be two or three weeks before the necessary gear for another attempt can be obtaintd. The Prime Minister, Mr Chamberlain, gave this information to-day to the House of Commons, which passed a resolution establishing a special tribunal of inquiry.
The tribunal, which will consist of Mr Justice Bucknill. assisted by three expert assessors, will open the inquiry in London, but some part of it will be held in Liverpool.
Mr Chamberlain said the Government would give the Tribunal all the assistance in its power. The Treasury solicitor had been instructed to place his services at the disposal of the tribunal for the purpose of collecting evidence and other material for submission to the tribunal. The inquiry would open as soon as possible.
