POTATO MARKET

XO ACTION BY INTERNAL MARKETING DIVISION CHRISTCHURCH, 13th June. No representations that it should intervene in the marketing and distributing of the potato crop this year have been made to the Internal Marketing Division. The present position of the potato market was discussed to-day by the Director of Internal Marketing Mr F. R Picot. “Because of dry weather and the season in the South Island during autumn and winter, the potato crop has suffered,” Mr Picot said. "As a result the quantity of potatoes available for sale has been below normal. Prices generally have been good, and, accordingly, no approach has been made to the Internal Marketing Division to take any active steps in the handling and distribution of the line.”
