RESULTS OF GAMES Last Saturday evening the follow I ing tournament games were played by j members of the Nelson Chess Club. A GRADE Vass v. McNabb. Q.P. game:—Early attack by McNabb got Vass into difficulties, which culminated in the loss of hia queen. The issue was a foregone one then, and McNabb won a brilliant game. Wilkinson v. Mechcn (Sicilian):—Mci chen played the opening well, but lat- ! er lost a knight in an unsound attack. By careful play Wilkinson forced further exchanges and won. Vass v. Foster-Barham (Q.P.): —Fos-ter-Barham lost a clear knight early in I the game, but thereupon commenced to play in earnest, winning back the piece and another with it, scoring a well deserved win under such a heavy I initial handicap. B GRADE Brown v. Coombs: — Won by Brown i after a good game. Campbell v. Sliarland: Sharl&nd i notched his third win in succession, ! r*nd seems to be .in good form. LADDER COMPETITION ! Parsons again tried to lower W. Cole’s 1 colours, but only scored i a point, ob« I tained by a humorous stalemate with a lone king v. K.R. and 4 pawns. The following are leading in the championships;— A grade: Foster-Barham 4; Wilkinson 3. H. McNabb 3. B grade: Sharland 3; Campbell 2; Brow n 2.
