SNOW AT ASHBURTON ASHBURTON, This Day. The Ashburton County had its first touch of winter last night when there was a fair sprinkling of snow in the borough and one and a half to two inches at Methven where it is rapidly thawing to-day. There were exceptionally heavy winds, one or two telephones and power lines being interrupted The weather is a great contrast to conditions a week or two ago when north-westerlies prevailed in .the borough, temperatures being on 15th May 74 degrees, 24th May, 71 degrees: sth June, 62.5 degrees; 9th June. 65 degrees. There was a frost of eleven de- j grees ysterday. Rain squalls are con-1 tinuing to-day.
