APPLICATION FOR TIMBER Section 10, Block VI, Takaka S.D. Applicant, O. W. Sixtus. It was resolved to obtain an appraisement from the State Forest Service of the timber on Section 10 and 407, Block VI, Takaka Survey District and to subsequently offer the timber for sale by public auction at an upset price and on such terms and conditions as may be imposed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands. RENEW'AL OF TIMBER CUTTING LICENSES Area of 60 acres in Block V, Oparara S.D. J. R. Simpson and Sons. It was resolved to grant Messrs J. R. Simpson and Sons a timber cutting permit over an area of 60 acres in Block V, Oparara Survey District subject to payment of royalties computed at State Forest rates, term one year from 1/6/1939. Area of 75 acres in Block IV., Waitakere S.D. M. H. Mitchell. It was resolved to grant a renewal to Mr M. H. Mitchell for one year from 11/5/39. CANCELLATION

It was resolved to declare license over sections 50 to 54 town of Collingwood cancelled as at 30th June, 1939 and to reduce annual rental to 15s as from 1/7/39. Section 88, Westport Colliery Reserve Area, 1 rood, 20 perches. It was resolved to offer for selection on renewable lease at a rental of £4 per annum in terms of Section 22, sub- ! section 2 of the Education Reserves Act, 1928. Sections 9 and 16. Bloc VIII, Kawatiri S.D. Area, 185 acres, 10 perches. It was resolved not to open at present. APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION FROM RESIDENCE Section 29, Block V, Tutaki Survey District. Area 25 acres. It was resolved to grant exemption from residence during the pleasure of the board and to treat as sufficient compliance with improvement condition ' a value to be sustained at a minimum j of £3O. EXPENDITURE OF THIRDS, ETC. { The Waimea County Council sub- 1 mitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting to £l9 6s Id accrued to 31/3/39. —Approved. The Takaka County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting £6 10s accrued to 31/3/38.—Approved. The board also dealt with 21 items in committee.
