DEFENCE POLICY
i LABOUR CAUCUS CONSIDERATION STATE OF LAND FORCE (United Prww Association) WELLINGTON. This Day. Further consideration was given to ■ the question of defence at the caucus i yesterday of members of the ParliaImentary Labour Party, which concluded in the afternoon after extending I over two days. The Prime Minister. Mr Savage, in an interview last evening said that the discussions on defence had occupied the greater part of Wednesday and practically all of yesterday. The discussions, said Mr Savage, had been highly interesting. What members of caucus had been mainly concerned with was the land defence i forces. They were enthusiastic about i the Government's activities to speed up i and strengthen the land forces. All agreed that it was desirable that he | should speak on the subject of defence as soon as possible, leaving the details to wait till the Government had received the report of Major-General P. J. Mackesy on the land forces. Certainly no harm could be done but quite a lot of good from broadcast addresses giving a general outline of the defence policy of the Government.
