UNCOVERED IN UNITED STATES TWENTY-FIVE MEN AND WOMEN ARRESTED DISSATISFIED WIVES GET RID OF HUSBANDS [U.P.A.— B.v Electric Telegraph—Copyright] (Received 11th May. 9.25 a.m.) PHILADELPHIA. 11th May. | It Is announced that twenty-five j men and women were arrested in connection with a vast “murder for i profit” syndicate which is now believed took at least 280 lives in eight years.
It was revealed that the organisation had a branch office at Pittsburgh, also representatives in nearby States to carry out amazing murder schemes. The ring aided dissatisfied wives to poison their husbands, for which it collected a share of the insurance.
It is understood the syndicate also performed cold-blooded killings for lump sum payments.
Thirteen widows are among the prisoners. Eleven are charged with murdering their husbands, eight, it is al leged, having confessed.
