SCOTTISH LOAN AND FINANCE CO.
INVESTIGATION OF AFFAIRS [U.P.A.—B.v Electric Telegraph—Copyright] SYDNEY, 11th May. An investigation of the affairs of the Scottish Loan and Finance Company, Limited, was opened to-day by the Official Assignee, acting under instructions from the provisional liquidator, who was appointed j'esterday by the Equity. Court. Detectives had previously collected all books and records pending the hearing of the petition for the winding up of the company.
The Equity Court was informed that a cheque for £SOO was sent by the Auckland brokers, C. J. Green Limited, as the proceeds of a sale of preference shares, and that Mr Albert Levitus, chairman of the company, had given directions that this cheque be paid into his private account. Mr Levitus had thereupon been relieved of his duties as chairman.
