ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

... DRIVER HARMS NO ONE BUT ... HIMSELF Going to sleep at the wheel resulted in Edward Harold McNabb having an accident with his car, spending a period in hospital as the result of injuries and appearing before Mr T. E. Maunsell. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to answer a charge of driving without due care and attention. He pleaded guilty, stating that he had been working all day and had gone to the Takaka Hill later. Coming back he was very tired and had fallen asleep, his car running off the road and striking a telegraph pole.

The Magistrate, commenting that defendant as luck would have it had harmed no one but himself, ordered him to pay the costs of the prosecution, 10s.
