The fire started in the kitchen, which was gutted. The dining room was damaged by smoke, water and heat, but little damage was done to the back of the premises.

The insurances were £1250 on the building with the South British Insur ance Co., and £2OO on the stock and fittings with the Alliance Company. Mrs Pope is a h avy loser.
