BOMBING OF CHUANCHOW HUNDREDS OF CHINESE PERISH TERRIFIED CHILDREN DROWNED IN HARBOUR (Received 12th May, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, 11th May. The Shanghai correspondent of “The Times” says that hundreds perished in a huge fire which is sweeping Chuanchow as the result of Japanese bombings. Terrified children fled across the harbour and were drowned. The prison was wrecked and warders fired on frenzied escapees.
