ACTIVE HOME TRADE DEMAND NEW ZEALAND CLIPS U.P.A. B.v Electric Telegraph-Copyright] (Received 12th May, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, 11th May. At the wool sales 9658 bales were offered, including 5632 New Zealand, and 8271 were sold. An average selection met with continued active home trade demand. Withdrawals were chiefly confined to best slipes and best Merinos owing to firm limits. New Zealand greasy crossbreds, “Moeraki,” BJd; greasy halfbred, “Vernon,” 103 d; slipe halfbred lambs, “Belfast” 15$d. Through the series 69,600 bales were offered and 61,500 sold, of which 36,000 were New Zealand and 11,000 Australian. The home trade bought 41,500 and the Continent 20,000. Seven thousand five hundred New Zealand and 23,000 Australian were held over. The tendency throughout the series was irregular, with competition active. Compared with the closing prices of previous series greasy Merinos were par to five per cent, lower, scoured Merinos and fine greasy crossbreds par, crossbreds, medium and coarse 5 to 10 per cent, higher and slipes 10 to 15 per cent, higher.
