THE FAR EAST
CONFERENCE OF NAVAL COMMANDERS RUMOURS SCOUTED BY THE ADMIRALTY (Received 12th May, 130 p.m.) LONDON. 11th May. Reports circulating in London that a conference of all the British Naval Forces in the Far East would shortly be held at Singapore are scouted at the Admiralty, where it is pointed out that the Commanders in Chief of the East Indies Squadrons conferred in March, while the Pacific Defence Conference has only just been held in Nw Zaland
The Admiralty refuse to comment on a report that as a result of the New Zealand conference certain British battleships are earmarked for the Pacific in the event of rn emergency.
