RESENT NAZI COMPETITION CLOTHES IMPORTED FROM GERMANY tßy Air Mail—Special Correspondent! LONDON, Bth May. English manufacturers of women’s wear want all imported clothes to be clearly labelled with their country of origin, instead of merely being marked “foreign” as at present. Mr Maurice W. Tuke. secretary of the Wholesale Fashion Trades Association, which is urging this change in the regulations, said this week: “Our object is to try to prevent German goods gaining an undeserved popularity. We are not concerned with boycotting them for political or racial reasons, but simply because German competition is not fair. We believe that German manufacturers are receiving 100 per cent, subsidy on their piece goods.
"We think that if goods were plainly marked with the country of origin British women would boycott them, not for the reason of unfair competition, but for other reasons. But the result would be the same."
