ART UNION RESULTS
FIRST PRIZE TO WHANGAREI £IOOO TO TAKAKA RESIDENT [United Presß Association) First prize of £2OOO in the "You Never Know ” art union, drawn in the Masonic Hall, Wellington, yesterday, was won by the holders of ticket No. 090614, bearing the pseudonym "Optimists” and the address "Ewings road, "Whangarei.” The second prize was drawn by J. W. Newport, Takaka. Luck caused the draw to be more exciting than usual. Seven marbles, each representing one of the first seven prizes, arc placed in a barrel in charge of a police sergeant The method is to find the ticket number first and then to draw a marble from the sergeant's barrel, so that as the last number was slowly ‘read out those following the drawing knew that the holder of it was to have £2OOO. The first ticket number drawn proved to belong to a ticket that was known not to have been sold, and those listening to see if their tickets had drawn the prize had a second chance. This time the ticket had been sold, to somebody in Whangarei. The prize list is as follows: First Prize—£2ooo 090614, "Optimists,” Ewings road, Whangarei. Second Prize—£looo 179651, J. W.
