AUSTRALIAN TRADE

NEW ZEALAND IMPORT RESTRICTIONS FURTHER LOSS OF XI,500,(100 fU.P.A— By Electric Telegraph—Copy rich t] (Received 9th May, 9 a.m.) CANBERRA. Bth May. The Commonwealth Government having fully considered the recent curtailment of Australian imports by New Zealand which will mean a further loss of trade amounting to £1.500.000. has decided against sending a Ministerial delegation to the Dominion to discuss the trade position. It is felt here that the latest restrictions apply mainly to luxury and semiluxury items and the right of New Zealand to economise on luxury imports to satisfy her serious internal position is fully appreciated in Canberra official quarters.
