Addressing the Rotariarts’ Congress Mr Leslie Burgin, who was ' recently appointed to the Ministry of i Supply, said that in 12 weeks 1,000.000 citizens applied for national service. There had been 600,000 definite enrolments in the first fortnight. lie appealed to employers to place no obstacle in the way of young people filling gaps in the Territorials. RESERVE REGISTRATION ENTHUSIASM IN SOUTH AFRICA MANY ALIENS MAKE APPLICATION (Received 9th May. 9.55 a.m.) LONDON. Bth May. The Johannesburg correspondent of the “Times” says that the opening of the national reserve registration was marked throughout the country by enthusiasm. Many aliens submitted their names, which were filed for possible special registration.
