BLOMFIELD DEFEATED
OUTPOINTED BY JACK DONOVAN I United Press Association! WELLINGTON, Bth May. The 1939 wrestling season was auspiciously launched in Wellington to-night when Jack Donovan, the American, outpointed Lofty Blomfield, New Zealand heavyweight champion, before a large house in the Town Hall. Blomfield took a fall in the fourth round with elbow jolts and a body press but the American evened with a fall in the sixth round following two heavy dumps. They exchanged flying tackles and elbow jolts till the end of the contest when the verdict for Donovan was well received as he had done most of the leading.
Donovan scaled 16st 101 b and Blomfleld 16st 81b. It was a stirring contest in which there was not a dull
