ALL SAINTS’ PARISH
IMPRESSIVE SERVICE OF WITNESS All Saints’ parish church was well filled last night for a service of fellowship and witness taken very largely by members of the Anglican Bible Classes. Three of the younger clergy, the Revs. K. C. Nicholson, E. H. Newman and H. E Rowe, were present in the Sanctuary with the Vicar of All Saints’, the Rev. Canon Haultain.
The first part of Evensong was taken by Mr A. McConchie, and Messrs Walter Newport and Alan McConchie read the lessons. Special prayers of intercession were taken by the Rev. E. H. Newman.
At the conclusion of Evensong Canon Haultain said how glad he was to associate himself and his parish in this mission of youth to youth campaign for which the Bible Class Unions are responsible. In of the usual sermon three challenging and impi-essive short addresses were given from the Chancel steps. Miss Marjory Tibbie spoke on “What Christ means to me”; Mr Stanley Teague spoke on “What the Church means to me,” and the Rev. E. H. Newman concluded with an address on “What the Bible Class Union means to me.” The:- were vei'y many comments of warm appreciation of the whole service which though quite unusual in character was expressive of the feelings and thoughts of the young people. A large body of Bible Class members from the Cathedral,- All Saints’ and Stoke were present.
Previous to the service a fellowship tea was held which was attended by about 60 young people. At the tea short addresses dealing with the ideals and Inspiration of the Anglican Bible Class Unions were given by Miss Margaret Edmonds and the Rev. E. H. Newman.
