NO TRUTH IN RUMOURS
SPANISH OCCUPATION OF TANGIER ASSURANCES TO BRITAIN [British Official Wireless] (Received 19th April, 10.23 a.m.) RUGBY, 18th April. There have been rumours of the intended Spanish occupation of Tangier. Inquiries in official quarters in London elicit the statement (hat the British Consul-General at Tangier has been given assurance by the Spanish authorities at Teluan that there is no truth in these suggestions, which are described bv the Spanish authorities as sensational and absolutely false.
“PURE NONSENSE” RETURN OF DANZIG TO THE REICH (Received 19th April, 10.25 a.m.) BERLIN. 18th April. It is stated that reports of the return of Danzig to the Reich as a birthday gift to Herr Hitler are pure nonsense. They will make the Fuhrer an honorary citizen and beyond that nothing will happen.
