SAWMILL DESTROYED BY FIRE
3000 FEET OF SAWN TIMBER LOST DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £2OOO ! United Preen Association] AUCKLAND. This Day. ! C. and A. Odlin's log sawmill at Glen I Eden was totally destroyed by fire in I the early hours this morning. The . building was a hundred foot square and contained three thousand feet of sawn timber, a portion of which was kauri on order to London | The loss is estimated at approxi- ! mately £2OOO and was insured in the Alliance Office for £I3OO. Threequarters of a million feet of limber in the yard was saved by the strenuous efforts of a bucket brigade. The mill had a capacity of ten thousand feet daily and was working to the exent of eight and a half million feet Fourteen men were employed, but Odlins say t hat they intend to rebuild imme- j diatelv and will keep the employees in j work as far as possible.
