MRS R. KEMP The late Mrs R. Kemp, of 69 Grove street, whose death occurred on 6th April, was a daughter of the late Mr John King, shipbuilder, of Scotland. Upon the early death of her father, the late Mrs Kemp and seven of a family, left Scotland for New Zealand in the sailing ship Hydaspes, in the year 1874. After a journey of three and a half months they arrived in Lyttelton, and resided there for a time. The late Mrs Kemp left for the Lyell w-here she lived for about two years. Later she married Mr Benjamin Kemp, formerly of Motueka. After a few years they took up farming in the Collingwood district where they remained for many years, finally settling in Nelson where she had very bravely suffered ill health for many years. The late Mrs Kemp was a very homeloving woman, never happier than when doing some thing for her family as well as others. She is survived by her husband, nine children, four sons and five daughters, Messrs D’Arcy Kemp (Wakatu, Nelson), L. Kemp (West Coast). A. Kemp (Cambridge), Albert Kemp, Nelson, Mesdames F.
