FERN SOCIETY’S DISPLAY
ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY The Nelson Fern Society's Show, to I be held on Thursday and Friday is creating much interest, and promises to be outstanding. The sub-committees have been at work for some weeks getting things ready, and a display different from artything yet staged locally will be seen. A feature of the show will be the 6ft x 4ft displays, and some very ingenious effects are to be expected. This class will be judged by popular vote of the public. Another fine section will be the combined displays by members of the society. in which will be seen high-built rockeries, with waterfalls and a fountain. Over 150 entries have been received for the pot classes, embracing a wide range of varieties. The Mayor, Mr G. L. Page, has kindly consented to officially open the show on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. Any profit will be handed to the City Council as a nucleus of a fund for the establishment of a municipal fernery. The show will be held in the Methodist School Hall. Hardy street, and will be open afternoon and evening of both days. The admission is at the low price of sixpence.
