OLD IOLANI BARRACKS. — One of the interesting buildings in Honolulu is the old lolani Barracks, which housed the King's own troops during the time of the Monarchy. Hawaii was proclaimed a republic in 1894. The islands were formally annexed to the United States in 1898 and constituted the territory of Hawaii in 1900.
