URUWHENUA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MONTHLY MEETING At the monthly meeting of the L'ruivhenua Women’s Institute, the president 'Mi's Godman) presided over a good attendance of members. The roll call “an original, humorous advertisement” brought fortli loud applause. The competi.ion, “institute potatoes” was won by Mrs N A. Barnett, with Mrs Price 2nd and Mr, Lindsay and Miss Lindsay equal for 3rd place. The specimen flower was won by Mrs Godman with Miss D. Riordan 2nd and Mrs Riordan 3rd. The trophies fo • the most points gained in the last 6 months for the speciman flower were won by Mrs N. A. Barnett, with Miss D. Riordan 2nd. Mrs Price was elected delegate to attend the half-yearly council meeting to he held at Wakefield on 16th May. A beautiful birthday posy was presented to Mr s Barnett. The social half hour was organised by Mrs- Barnett. The competition was won by Miss Lindsay. Mrs I. Barnett obliged with a solo which was fully appreciated by all present and who requested an encore. which was duly responded to. The mystery parcel was won by Mrs Price. A dainty afternoon tea was then served by the hostesses, Mr* and Miss Symes, at the conclusion of which a hearty vote of thanks was passed and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
