well and the team's tackling was a feature. The backs were strengthened by the inclusion of R. Banham, Sydney, who was player-coach for Auckland last season and is acting in this capacity for Mt. Albert this season. The weather was fine and the attendance 3000. Tries for the winners were scored by Herring and Hardgrave and Herring and Banham each converted one. Zanham kicked two penalty goals and Herring one. Sloan. Watt and Picup scrode for the visitors and Qucaley kicked a penalty goal.
