AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB DANCE

WELLINGTON AND CANTERBURY VISITORS AS GUESTS PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES A floor crowded to capacity marked the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's Easter Sports Carnival dance which was held in the Velma Hall. About 50 representatives of the Wellington, Christchurch and Motueka Athletic Clubs, and the Canterbury ladies’ cricket team, were the guests of the evening, which went with a swing right from the commencement until the last dance.

During the evening Mr J. W. Russell, president of the Nelson Club, after welcoming the visitors, presented the trophies won by the contestants in the various events which had taken place at the sports meeting in the afternoon, including the Nelson Cup for the visitor gaining the largest number of points, which was won by J. Wilson, of Welington.

Mr A. C. Kitto, president of the Weiington Centre, replied for the visitors, thanking tthe Nelson Club very heartily for its hospitality and the very enjoyable evening arranged for their entertainment by the organiser of the dance, Mr Owen Rothwell, and his helpers. He also commented on the progress made by the Nelson Club, which, he said, was, as regards the size of its membership, the second largest club in the Wellington Centre.

He then presented Mr Russell with a handsome crystal vase on behalf of the members of the Wellington team and concluded by calling for three cheers for the Nelson Club, which were given with great enthusiasm.
