IRAN'S CROWN PRINCE BRIDE KING FAROK’S SISTER LONDON. 9th March. Mohammed Riza Pahlevi, Crown Prince of Iran, met his bride-to-be. the Egyptian Princess Fawzieh. for the first time to-day. He had arrived at Cairo for the wedding festivities and she was there to greet him. The Prince is 19 and the Princess is 17. The wedding will be on 15th March. The “Daily Mail” says the Prince’s father, the Shah. Riza Khan Pahlevi, was impressed by a photograph of the Princess, who is King Farouk’s sister, in a magazine and sent diplomats bearing gifts to propose marriage. The bethrothal resulted. The Prince’s arrival in Egypt was greeted with a salute of guns by British warships. The bride will not attend the wedding. Proxies will sign the marriage contract. Princess Fawzieh is the eldest daughter of the late King Fuad I. of Egypt, and of Queen Nazli. The Princess was born on sth November, 1921, and is nearly two years younger than her brother, 'he King. Shahpur Mohammed Riza- was born at Teheran on 26th October. 1919. and was appointed Crown Prince of Iran, the official name of Persia, on 25th February, 1926. by his father, two months after the latter was elected King by the Constituent Assembly.
